Associate Justice Henry S. Angeles

Hon. Henry S. Angeles was appointed as an Associate Justice of the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) on September 29, 2023 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. With his appointment, Justice Angeles continues his long career in public service, previously having worked at the Department of Justice, the Department of Finance and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Prior to his appointment to the CTA, Justice Angeles served as an Assistant Solicitor General (ASG) for seven years at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) under both Solicitor General Jose C. Calida and Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra. As an ASG, Justice Angeles mostly handled cases filed against government regulatory agencies including the Philippine Competition Commission, the SEC, the National Telecommunications Commission and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, among others.

In the course of his stint with the OSG, he attended several training programs on topics ranging from International Criminal Law defense and Anti-Competition Law to mediation techniques.

In the private sector, Justice Angeles worked for First Metro Investment Corporation, the investment banking arm of the Metrobank group.

Justice Angeles obtained his law degree from the Arellano University in 2000. He took and passed the Philippine Bar Examinations in the same year. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and earned his undergraduate degree in B.S. Accountancy from the De La Salle University in 1994.
